Veruca Salt

Named after the bratty girl in "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," Veruca Salt was the object of an intense bidding war in 1993-4 (that Geffen finally won), despite the fact that they had played less than a dozen gigs. After releasing their debut "American Thighs" and achieving massive radio and MTV airplay with "Seether," they toured for a year-and-a-half with such acts as Hole, PJ Harvey, and Live. The band followed up with the Steve Albini-recorded EP, "Blow It Out Your Ass, It's Veruca Salt." Their second full-length CD, "Eight Arms to Hold You" spawned the hit single "Volcano Girls."
